The Altair Patient Care System (PCS) integrates the best of today's proven technologies to provide medical practioners with the e-Tools to increase the effectiveness, efficiency and quality of patient care. These benefits are the result of the careful integration of automated processes that enforce patient care rules you define and the medical data maintained in databases for patients under your care. Once you have defined the rules and processes associated with how you practice medicine the Altair PCS ensures that they are consistently applied. A wireless PC Tablet becomes your Control Center for managing patient care.

Patient Encounters
Interactions or Encounters with patients are at the core of the PCS. Patient Encounters in your Office, Hospital or late night call are all integrated via the Encounter Management Module (EMM). The EMM provides an Encounter Console that integrates:

  • Examination and History
  • Diagnosis and Plan
  • Diagnostic Exams
  • Prescriptions
  • Patient History and Chart

A Billing Assistant keeps track of each encounter and provides immediate feedback on what Billing Codes may be used based on examination and face-to-face time.

Access to all previous encounters and immediate access to all, or part, of the Patient record are only part of this e-Tool. The EMM runs on a standard PC, but is most effective when running on a wireless Tablet PC. On this platform the EMM supports: stylus interaction, handwriting recognition and voice recognition.

A Mobile version of the EMM allows providers to process encounters while disconnected from their networks. On return to the office the application will update the main database with the changes made while mobile.

All Encounter information is automatically connected to the Patient Record and routed to Administration and Nursing for appropriate action.



Encounter Template
The PCS includes an easy-to-use Encounter Template Creator that lets each doctor define templates that automate the process of encounter information gathering. During an Encounter the doctor selects from a library of templates. As the information is completed it is instantly connected to the Patient Record. Results from all prior Encounters are available for side-by-side comparisons.

Templates may be created which include images as part of the question or answer. Tablet users are able to annotate images and make notes by writing or via speech recognition.

Prescriptions
The PCS manages all patient prescriptions and refills. Prescriptions can be easily forwarded electronically to pharmacy and are automatically added to the Patient Record.

Diagnostic Exams
The PCS creates Lab Requests which can be easily forwarded to Lab and are automatically added to the Patient Record. Automated Assistants track lab: scheduling, receipt of results, analysis and communication to patient of results.

Patient Monitoring
The PCS is able to manage long-term and recurring monitoring of patient. Data is maintained in the database and is available for statistical analysis.

Automated Assistants
Altair's PCS application includes a set of Automated Assistants that continuously check the rules each physician has defined for patient care. For example, an Automated Assistant can be instructed to remind an employee to follow-up with a patient to confirm that no side-effects have been observed.
